Meet JACC: Asia Deputy Editor Dr. Dong Zhao

In this video, JACC: Asia Deputy Editor Dong Zhao, MD, PhD, shares her background and personal experiences, including how she became involved in medicine and what led her to choose cardiology. She discusses the importance of epidemiology and cardiovascular prevention, caring for and studying large populations and how this changed her view of patient management – as well as her belief in the importance of raising awareness of general health and wellness programs beginning with childhood education, and expanding to high-risk populations. Building on her experience with personal mentors, Dr. Zhao provides advice for younger people wishing to pursue a career in research and defines the qualities she believes make a successful researcher: passion, insight, a broad and deep knowledge base, and identifying key topics and problems before research begins. Dr. Zhao also shares her expectations for JACC: Asia, including improving cardiovascular care and serving as a platform to showcase innovation and discovery around cardiovascular disease in Asia.

Dr. Jian’an Wang Shares Advice for Early Career Cardiologists, Impact of JACC: Asia

JACC: Asia Editor-in-Chief Jian’an Wang, MD, PhD, FACC, shares his personal experiences, including what motivated him to become a cardiologist, his approach with patients, the importance of trust in treatment and care, and advice for building successful clinical teams. Providing advice for young researchers, Dr. Wang addresses the importance of ethics and conducting meaningful, clinically relevant research. With JACC: Asia approaching its first anniversary, Dr. Wang comments on the significance of the Journal in the clinical field and its role in providing comparative research, promoting clinical studies based on Asian populations, expanding beyond East Asia to reach regions across Asia, and motivating scientists and the cardiovascular community. He wraps up the video with advice for submitting to JACC: Asia.
